And digital ethics was given larger salience final year by a controversy surrounding a use of amicable media information in domestic campaigning – generally in propinquity to Brexit and a choosing of Donald Trump as US president. The Cambridge Analytica controversy was a scapegoat for such matters.

Under a streamer “Think digital ethics, not only AI”, a paper states: “TechUK believes a digital ethics discuss should dilate from simply focusing on AI and demeanour to brand issues that could arise from a long-term adoption and deployment of other modernized digital technologies, either used exclusively or in contributions with any other.”

And while it lauds a work of a Information Commissioner’s Office, it also states: “Given a strech and range of modernized digital technologies, now is a time for other regulators to also turn sensitive and active in a digital ethics debate.” And it welcomes “the new proclamation by a Department for Business, Energy and Industry Strategy of a £10m Regulators’ Pioneer Fund to assistance safeguard manners and regulations keep gait with technological advances”.
