\tSamsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 7 <\/a>has been the subject of countless rumors, and a new image allegedly reveals what it will look like.<\/p>\n

\tThe image — a drawing, not a photo — was tweeted by known leaker @evleaks<\/a>, aka Evan Blass, and first published at blog site VentureBeat<\/a>. The device features a dual curved display, which backs up previous reports of such a screen. If true, the Note 7 would be the first large-screen Galaxy Note<\/a> to sport a wraparound display, which has popped up on prior Samsung phones, such as the Galaxy S6 Edge<\/a>, the Galaxy S6 Edge+<\/a> and the Galaxy S7 Edge<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\tSamsung, the world’s top seller of phones,<\/a> had been in a slump for few years, struggling with sluggish demand for smartphones. But the Galaxy S7 lineup has helped revive business this year. The company may be hoping the same magic works with the new Galaxy Note, especially if the curved display proves a draw for consumers.<\/p>\n

\tThe image also displays the familiar S-Pen stylus used to scribble notes and drawings on the screen. The physical home button would likely be outfitted with the phone’s fingerprint sensor, though rumors say the Note 7 will also include an iris scanner<\/a> for added security.<\/p>\n

\tA standard 3.5mm audio jack, a USB port, a microphone, a speaker and the housing for the S Pen Stylus can also be seen in the alleged image.<\/p>\n

The headline of the editorial for which the image is the illustration says that “Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 is a big bet that may pay off for the entire industry.” That’s a hefty boast, but Blass says it’s based on the VentureBeat article, which is “about Samsung’s bet on eschewing a safe form factor in favor of the single, curved-display model.” Blass added that “success here could encourage other OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to take more risks with their own flagships.”<\/p>\n

We’ll know exactly what the Galaxy Note 7 will look like in a couple of weeks. Samsung is due to unveil the new device at a launch event in New York City on August 2<\/a>. That’s about a month earlier than the company typically introduces its new devices, a sign it’s trying to capture more interest ahead of Apple’s usual September announcement of the new version of the iPhone<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Samsung spokesman said the company doesn’t comment on unreleased products.<\/p>\n
